Water for Elephants

Book vs. Movie

This book is one of my favorites of all time, so I was a bit skeptical when I found out that it was going to be a major motion picture.  I was pleasantly surprised, however when I saw the movie.  It was not exactly a replica of the book, but it was a good rendition.  The actors did a believable job.  It was nice to watch the circus come to life on screen, but at the same time it was heartwrenching when you have to see how the elephant is treated by the cruel ring master, August.  Some things are just safer when left to the imagination, if you know what I mean.  Most of the characters were portrayed well, but I have to admit—I wasn’t expecting Robert Pattinson to be Jacob.  Did you read the book and see the movie?  How do you think the film version did, in your opinion?  Would you have changed some of the actors?  Who would you have picked to play the main characters?
