Book vs. Movie
If you like philosophical questions and interesting relationships, this book is worth reading. You also have to love the way words flow—as if they themselves are a character in the story. This was another title I had the pleasure of listening to as an audiobook. It really is a deep thinking book about life, and how important some people become in one’s life. The movie is filmed in French, but there are English subtitles. I actually really liked the way everything was portrayed in the movie. The producers also took the liberty of being very creative visually. For example, I really loved the way Paloma’s drawings take over the film—you even see an example of this on the DVD cover. Naturally, you get a deeper understanding between the characters in the book version, and the movie does change a few things (one of them being the method of suicide chosen by Paloma), but overall a satisfying rendition. I even agreed with the actors for the characters. A job very well done.
